Do you take insurance?
Yes - I accept most major insurances: Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, Medicaid, Medicare, and United Healthcare. I am not currently able to accept Sentara or Tricare. You are welcome to self-pay as well at the rate of $120 a session.
What ages do you work with?
I work with clients 14 - 114.
What type of appointments do you have?
Sessions can be in person or virtual. I work with individuals, couples, or families (each member 14 or older). My hours are Monday - Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm. I do not offer weekend or evening appointments. Appointments are typically 1 hour, though can be 45 minutes if preferred.
What is your cancelation policy?
I require 24 hours notice for any canceled or rescheduled appointments. Providing less than 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule appointments will result in a $100 missed appointment fee. Certain exceptions will always be considered and can be discussed in more detail during the first appointment.
How long do I need therapy?
Therapy is a highly individualized process that can't be accurately generalized. I encourage new clients, and especially those that have never had therapy before, to be willing to have at least 6 sessions. People usually find that after 6 sessions they are starting to notice some improvements and they can then decide from there if they would like to continue. There is nothing wrong with engaging in therapy for a longer period of time. Many of my clients find therapy a continued benefit for years.
What can I expect in my first session with you?
I spend the first session trying to genuinely understand your life situation, from your perspective and experience. I try to always provide at least one point of reflection to consider or specific homework/task to work on before our next meeting.
What types of clients do you work with best?
Motivated clients that enjoy mixing in laughter to every conversation, but aren't afraid to be challenged.
What type of clients are you most excited to work with?
I enjoy working with someone that has never tried therapy and offering them an opportunity to create a positive and meaningful therapeutic experience.
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
We all have problems! No one is perfect and an essential part of the healing process is being able to lean into our problems and challenges, and accept them for what they are, rather than fearing vulnerability.
Why did you decide to become a therapist?
I take pride in helping people, and from a young age I was told I was good listener. I feel that I am able to make the most meaningful impact in the world through my individual connections with others.
What do you do for fun/on your time off?
First and foremost, spending time with my family, whether it be playing a game, eating dinner together, going on an adventure, or watching a movie. I love being outdoors - walking, hiking, biking, working in the yard, or a house project.
